DH and I will be traveling to Florida with my parents.
August 25-September 1, 2007
We will be staying at Disney's Carribean Beach Resort!
I've been scouring Disney sites getting all kinds of information to make our trip a smooth and enjoyable one.
- I purchased an Arctic Zone brand insulated water jug at my local Walmart for around $6. It has a wide mouth, insulated bag and a shoulder strap and holds just over 32 oz. Take it to any counter service restaurant in the parks that sells fountain drinks and ask a Cast Member to fill it with ice water. It's free!! That way, you have nice cold water all day!
- Instead of buying the little cartons of milk at the food court for 99 cents each, go into the gift shop and buy a whole quart for $1.50. This saved us a lot of money, once we realized they sold milk in the back of the gift shop. Take your own cereal from home, send someone for the bottle of milk in the morning and this will save you lots of time and money.
- Pack laundry tablets and fabric softener in containers for when you must do laundry.
- If you need cash and hate paying those outrageous ATM fees, simply cash a personal check at the front desk. There is no charge for this service and they will cash up to $100 a day.
- I saw lots of folks taking photos of family and friends through the Goofy frame, located just past the Canada pavilion and the Refreshment Port, on the way to Showcase Plaza. If you are looking straight at the frame, you will get a lovely photo, with the water in the background. However, for an even better shot, move slightly to the left and crouch down a bit. You can capture Spaceship Earth in your photo as well!
- Before you go, program 407.WDW.INFO and 407.WDW.DINE into your cell phone(s). Remember to use those especially if you're on your night or weekend minutes, since it's free! It's SO easy to call these from wherever you are -- hotel room, in the park, etc. -- and find instant answers to your questions.
- Scotchgard those canvas sneakers before you leave home for WDW! Apply several coats, and allow plenty of drying time between applications. Dry feet make those sudden Florida downpours a whole lot more bearable!
- Print out adhesive address labels of everyone you will be sending postcards to on your trip. You will wind up carrying one sheet of paper with you instead of an address book, and won't forget anyone in your vacation frenzy!
- We were told that many times when a room key is stored next to a cell phone, the magnetic strip is affected. For our next trip I went to the bank and got credit card sleeves for all (especially the teens) to keep their room keys in.
- - When you check in make sure you ask for early housekeeping, if you are early risers, most people are up and out early, this will ensure that if you return for an afternoon rest your room will be clean.
